Province Place of Maryview Opens Greenhouse
Province Place of Maryview believes that gardening is an enjoyable pastime and an excellent form of exercise that helps to improve mobility, flexibility, and the use of motor skills. Our greenhouse provides a therapeutic way for the residents of Province Place to stay active and productive by growing and harvesting vegetables, flowers and herbs. Seeds are started in the wheelchair accessible greenhouse during the winter. The young plants are moved to a shade house and garden in the spring. Rather than plots in the ground, the beds are on raised platforms at varying heights so residents don’t have to get down on their knees to garden. The “fruits of their labors” are used to decorate the community and in food preparation. At Province Place of Maryview, we believe in eating healthy, staying active and loving our environment through gardening!
